This option allows you to import data into Tournament Director. Three types of data can be imported:
At the top of the dialogue dates of the last imports are displayed. This importation can also been seen on the Options dialogue The List dropdown list allows you to select the type of data to be imported. The format is automatically selected, but in some circumstances it can be changed. The source file can be entered or selected via the ... button. The source defaults to the directory last used for the import of data. To Import the file click on import. The system validates that the file is in the correct format and then imports the data. It can take a while to import the data, so a progress dialogue is displayed. BCF Club ListThis list is published by the BCF. It is a list of clubs as defined by the BCF. When submitting results for grading with the BCF for new players, a club must be entered. This list needs to be loaded before the BCF Grading List is loaded. The system does contain a default list, but it needs to be updated when new lists are made available by the BCF. Once the BCF Club List has been loaded, updates can be loaded. The correct Type must be selected as the format of the file is validated. BCF Grading ListThis list is publish by the BCF. It is published annually, updates to this list can also be published periodically. It is a list of all players that are graded by the BCF. It contains key details about the player (BCF Code, name, DOB, grade, club, FIDE No). Players on the BCF Grading List can be selected or matched with players on your system. When the BCF Grading List is imported, the details of all the players with a BCF Code are automatically updated. If a BCF Code has been merged the players will be automatically merged on the system. If a BCF Code is removed, the code will not be removed from the player, but the latest grades will be set to blank. Once the BCF Grading List has been loaded, updates and merges can be loaded. The correct Type must be selected as the format of the file is validated. FIDE Rating ListThis list is published annually by the BCF and quarterly by FIDE. They use different formats, and both formats are handled by the system. It is a list of all players that are rated by FIDE. It contains key details about the player (FIDE No, name, country, DOB, rating, FIDE Title). Players on the FIDE Rating list can be selected or matched with players on your system. When a FIDE Rating List is imported, the details of all the players with a FIDE Number are automatically updated. FIDE are not consistent in the format in which they publish their Rating List. So if a FIDE Rating List is imported from FIDE the Import Wizard dialogue is displayed to identify the correct format of the file for importing. |
